This is an introduction to DIY Biology, you can think of it as bio-making.

In this workshop we will start with the basics of DNA, and do a simple extraction of the genomic DNA from strawberry cells. In less than 30minutes, you’ll be able to see just how much DNA exists within a typical strawberry – probably a lot more than you think 😉

We only have 4 kits for making ornaments with this DNA, but more people are welcome to join, so the first to sign up can get to take these with them.

Programme:

18:00 – 18:30 Fika.
18:30 – 18:45 DNA Extraction presentation.
18:45 – 19:15 Practice workshop: making ornaments with strawberry DNA.
19:30 – 20:00 Open time for questions and discussion

Det här är en introduktion till DIY-biologi, du kan tänka på det som bio-making.

I den här workshopen börjar vi med grunderna i DNA och gör en enkel extraktion av DNA från jordgubbsceller.

På mindre än 30 minuter kommer du att kunna se hur mycket DNA som finns i en vanlig jordgubbe – troligen mycket mer än du tror! 😉

Vi har bara 4 kit för att göra dekorationer med DNA, men fler är välkomna att delta. De som anmäler sig först får ta med sig dessa.
